Jigsaw Puzzle Games Help Kids Develop Cognitive Skills

A jigsaw puzzle can provide long-lasting entertainment and numerous benefits of promoting the cognitive development of children of all ages.

Puzzle solving activities can start at very early ages and continue as children get older. There are puzzles designed just for toddlers, with large wooden puzzle pieces or other durable puzzle games. For toddlers and preschool kids, solving a jigsaw puzzle helps improve basic skills such as hand-eye coordination because it requires the child to manipulate relatively small objects and to place those objects in specific places.

The benefits can continue into preteen, teen, and adult years with more challenging puzzles that require more advanced coordination as well as other benefits. As kids get older, they can advance to more challenging puzzles, which include a larger number of smaller pieces and more complex color patterns. For older kids, solving puzzle games can help develop analytical skills, communication and collaboration, logic and attention to details.

Puzzle games also improve a child's spatial skills. Solving a jigsaw puzzle requires the child to visualize a puzzle piece, and then to mentally rotate the puzzle piece up to 360 degrees to find that piece's accurate fit. This forces the child to move away from concrete thoughts and into a realm of abstract thoughts. He has to imagine the results of an action (in this case, the results of rotating a puzzle piece) not unlike a game of chess.

Puzzle solving improves a child's problem-solving and reasoning skills. The child is repeatedly presented with a problem while solving a jigsaw puzzle: how to make a particular piece fit into the overall puzzle. He will have to evaluate the shape of the puzzle as well as any colors or patterns presented on the puzzle, relative to the other pieces on the game board. He may have to flip or rotate the piece to make it fit. In some cases, he may have to flip or rotate the piece several times before he finds its place in the puzzle. Successfully solving this problem can give children the confidence to attempt more challenging puzzles.

A less-often recognized cognitive benefit of jigsaw puzzles is the picture on the puzzle. For example, solving a puzzle with a picture of the United States will familiarize a child with the geography of the United States. Jigsaw puzzles can also familiarize a child with a scene from history or literature. There is a great variety of puzzles available today making it easier than ever to find ones with an educational theme that appeals to your child. Themes include horse breeds, astronomy, trains, bible stories and more. Even text printed over a puzzle picture is learned particularly well, as a child is often required to study and read the final picture and the individual pieces repeatedly in order to solve the puzzle.

Often, solving a jigsaw puzzle will spark an interest in other types of problem-solving tasks and puzzle games, such as crosswords or word puzzles. However, the cognitive benefits of jigsaws alone cannot be discounted. These skills will overlap into many other areas of the child's life.

Exciting Puzzle to Refresh Your Brain

In 1883, Edouard Lucas a French mathematician has developed a puzzle game; Tower of Hanoi. In the game there is a tower which is having eight disks which are arranged in increasing order. The aim of the game is to transfer the disk from one tower to other pegs. You could move only one disk at a time. This game is based on the data structure and algorithms and its solution is well understood by the computer students. The solution of the puzzle depends on the two topics: recurrence relations and recursive functions and stacks. You have to move the disk from the left peg to right peg.

The Tower of Hanoi puzzle is interesting and it also requires you to think how to proceed. You need to make a strategy and understood the whole concept to win over the game. When you move the disk from right to left, then when its center reaches the peg then drop the disk. You need to follow the rules while playing the games. You cannot put the bigger one onto the smaller one. The logic game is a good choice of game to play with. These games allow you to think logically and find out the best solution to win the game. It is the wise way to discover the tricks to win the game.

While playing the game you need to follow the following rules:

1) You could move only one disk at a time.
2) While moving the upper disk from one peg to other makes sure that the disk is to be placed on the top of the other disk.
3) While moving the disk always remember to maintain its increasing order. No disk is to be put on the top of the smaller disk.

Achieving the goal in the Tower of Hanoi is difficult and frustrating. It gives challenges to the players to move the disk according to the games order. You need to follow the rule of the game. The whole game depends upon moving the disk from one peg to other. The disk is present to form Tower. Hence you need to play carefully and maintain the tower while movement. The important thing is to play logically to do the movements so to achieve the goal. The game is confusing and requires a complete planning to move the tower disk by disk and keep following the guidelines.

Instruction in Lucid Dreaming - Basics You Need to Know

Instruction in lucid dreaming is easy to understand even though its actual concept may still be a puzzle for many. Fear of the unknown has always held people back from realizing their own capabilities and improving their lives. It's time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new that may prove to bring a positive change in your life. Most of us just sleep and let our dreams pass by when we can consciously take part in them. Wouldn't you want to take snapshots of your dreams with your head and remember them even after waking up? So much can be revealed to you by lucid dreaming once you've learned the ropes.

Here are the basics involved in lucid dreaming:

Recollection of dreams
You must be able to tell what you dreamt about upon waking up. Don't force it but rather have it come naturally. You may recall bits and parts or even just have a sense of it as you start to practice.

Discover more
Finding additional instruction in lucid dreaming during the day by reading and talking in connection with it, sourcing websites and also writing stories or any literature about it will bring you closer to the experience and process. It tells your subconscious mind to be on guard for dreams and to have natural feelings and intent for it will heighten your sensitivity towards lucid dreaming.

Binaural beats, monaural and isochronic tones
Listening to any of these three will help you get into a lucid dreaming state without a hitch. These will help in altering your state of consciousness as it endorses you into deep sleep while still exhibiting lucidity.

Dream journal
This can be in written or audio form. You can write or type it in a diary specifically for that purpose while you can also use a voice recorder as you express your thoughts. You will gain further insights into your dreams as you read or play them back.

Reality inspection
A simple way so you can decipher whether you are dreaming or not is, when you aren't sure about it, then you are most likely dreaming.

Road to lucidity
To bring about lucid dreams is similar to self-hypnosis as you suggest of becoming consciously dreaming. One instruction in lucid dreaming is to picture yourself doing what you will in your lucid dream. Imagine, realize and try not to impose but rather go with the flow and let it come to you. Stay calm during the episode and use your imagination anyway you want to.

There are no boundaries or restrictions when you are lucid dreaming. It's basically free for all! Use it to inspire you, conquer your fears or even gain self confidence. The possibilities are limitless to what your mind and body can achieve.

In Touch Weekly Magazine - One of the Front Runners in Celebrity News Coverage

In Touch Weekly was started back in 2002 as a source for consumers wanting an inexpensive way to catch up on celebrity news.  With so many people looking for a factual source of information that is not written in a tabloid style, this magazine is the perfect choice.

It has become a popular choice amongst many people in the younger crowd due to its inexpensive cover price that is much lower than People or US Weekly that offers the same type of information.

One of the most remarkable features throughout the In Touch Weekly publication is the use of some of the best photographs found in any magazine.  The photos are mostly candid, but are very high quality.

Along with these exceptional photographs of current celebrities, the most liked attribute to this magazine is the fact that there are very few advertisements.  It is found that with just about every issue, there are ten pages or less with ads and many of them are not full page size.

Every issue in the In Touch subscription include the main topics of Celebrities, News, Lifestyle, Style, and the cover stories.  The celebrities section is the largest part of the magazine as this is where the news about the stars are discussed on just about every page.  Within these sections the reader can catch up on their favorite television and movie stars in the news, the latest on their home life, the best clothes that the celebrities have worn, and some excellent in-depth cover stories that are factual and to the point.

Other features found within the pages of the magazine allow the reader to have a little more fun with "The Stars Above" for the weekly horoscopes, "Time to Relax" for a weekly crossword puzzle, "Best of The Week" for a summary of current television programs and new movies, and " Last Words" for some interesting quotes that were spoken by the celebrities. Many subscribers find that they continue to purchase an In Touch subscription so that they can keep up with the latest celebrity gossip and have a little extra fun at the end of the week.

Salt Lake Temple Art - Mormon and LDS Artwork

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints build temples. Temples are sacred edifices that are used for holy worship. Temples in the Mormon church have the same purpose that temples in the Bible had. There are over 100 temples across the world in many different countries. The temple that is represented most in the form of art and artwork, is the Salt Lake Temple. The Salt Lake Temple took over 40 years to build under the direction of Brigham Young, John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff.

This gray building built out of granite has a castle like look to it. The front has three towers pointing to heaven and likewise the back. These six towers represent the leadership of the church as there are six presiding officers: three for the spiritual welfare of the members and three for the physical well-being. There are also forty rooms found within the walls.

Although many temples exist all over the world the temple that is chosen to represent the church is the Salt lake temple. You will see pictures of this building on pamphlets produced by the church describing temples and their purpose and on the churches website. Many LDS jigsaw puzzles use this edifice as the image for the puzzle.

Why is this temple the most used in photograph, art, and other artwork, even though this temple was not the first completed by the Mormon church? One reason might be that the headquarters of the Mormon church is located in Salt Lake City. This is also in many ways the show case temple for the church. Every Christmas the grounds are lighted up with thousands of lights. Many people in Utah have fond memories of visiting the grounds every Christmas. There is also so much history in the building; as it is over 100 years old it is a way that members of the church can reflect upon the sacrifice of the early pioneers who worked for years to complete it.

Nearby are located other very important prominent buildings in the Mormon faith: the Tabernacle, the LDS Conference Center, the Assembly Hall, LDS museum of history and art, and other church office buildings. Every six months, the church holds a conference for a world wide audience that is broadcast all over the world, the temple is shown on screen during brief intermissions.

The temple has been photographed inside, and there are pictures of many of the rooms inside the temple. You can find them in LDS books such as "House of the Lord". In the mid part of the twentieth century, when the temple was being renovated and updated, pictures were taken of the inside prior to the rededication to give members of the church and others an inside look, which had never been done previously. Once a temple is dedicated cameras are not allowed inside.

Since America is new in comparison to Europe and other old monarchies of the world, America does not have many castles; this is a great example of American architecture at its best.

The Lost Cases of 221B Baker St Game Review

Join Sherlock Holmes and his loyal friend Dr. Watson in their latest puzzle game The Lost Cases of 221B Baker St. A sequel to the classic hidden object game The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, this game features a host of detective stories based in Victorian England. Investigate hundreds of potentially relevant clues in 16 cases of forgery, espionage, theft, murder and more.

The famous fictional detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle returns in The Lost Cases of 221B Baker St with the ever-faithful Dr. Watson as they investigate previously unknown cases including a murder at the mystical Stonehenge archaeological formation, a mysterious disappearance related to time travel, and the possible return of the infamous Jack the Ripper murderer.

This dynamic duo do not solve the cases on their own though. They team up with other familiar characters such as older brother Mycroft, Inspector Lestrade and other contemporary investigators and personalities. They also come across a whole range of people (both victims and suspects) in their investigations, such as archaeologists, smugglers, murderers, damsels in distress and even the famed author H. G. Wells!

There are 16 thrilling cases to be explored in The Lost Cases of 221B Baker St, and each case features bizarre circumstances and exotic scenarios that only the great Sherlock Holmes could solve. The only thing bad about having so many cases is that the game is not able to devote enough time to getting the player fully involved and engrossed in each case, leaving the cases feeling like short excursions rather than the deep mysteries they deserve to be.

Each case starts out with Holmes and Watson (usually at home) being approached by either a distraught victim of foul play, a concerned friend/relative, or a member of Scotland Yard with a case that is too difficult for the police to solve. These interactions (as well as all conversations in the game) happen in cutscenes with good voice-acting. Once Holmes gets enough background information about the case, the pair are off to investigate the various locations involved, as well as interview witnesses and potential suspects.

The gameplay in 221B Baker St is a typical hidden object and mini-puzzle format, but with unique additions that make it more immersive and enjoyable. When you click on hidden objects that you're supposed to find, you get some backstory on those objects. For example, finding a handkerchief at a dig site might cause Sherlock to deduce that the Baron Escobar - the lover of the murder victim's widow - was visiting the victim just before he died. These story bits really add character to these hidden object games that usually turn out to have lots of mindless clicking.

The puzzles in this game are also finely crafted. They usually occur while you are searching for clues. For example, finding a torn-up piece of paper will launch a puzzle that requires you to put the pieces back together and decipher the riddle on it. Other puzzles are triggered by approaching obstacles such as locks and doors. The puzzles themselves are also more intricate and have that distinct Victorian English feel to them.

When Sherlock has collected enough evidence in each case, he then goes back to Baker St. to contemplate the information and arrive at his surprising yet correct conclusions. This is done in the game by correctly categorizing the list of suspects according to distinguishing features. You then have to associate the suspects with the correct evidence. For example, the Baron Escobar with his handkerchief from our earlier example. You can then rule out incorrect suspects until you arrive at the real culprit. Once the case is completed, a black-and-white cutscene will start in which Sherlock explains (with his crazy logic) how the crime was committed and how he deduced who was responsible.

The Lost Cases of 221B Baker St is a nice adventure in Arthur Conan Doyle's world of mysterious Victorian England. The gameplay and art are both very immersive and detailed, and the story is strong enough to keep you interested and hooked on the game. And with 16 cases in this one game, what's not to like?

Promotional Items - Appreciation and Motivation Goes a Long Way

Brand marketing's contemporary concept is being ruled by promotional items. They are very popular because they cater to different sets of audiences.

When you give gifts to someone, they will feel significant and special. These kinds of gestures serve as boosting factors for the public to relate to your brand. And because of the success of this concept, there are many suppliers of promotional items who are now operating to give you good quality products.

Premium Items:
Choosing the best supplier for the gift items that you will distribute should be taken very seriously. To receive premium items, you also need premium suppliers. Fortunately, there are many reputable suppliers in the UK. They can be a great source of products you need for your marketing campaign.

Based on the kind of business event you have and the preference of your audience, you can choose from a wide variety of items. You can have mobile phone holders, mugs and coasters, fridge magnets, recycled desktop, travel and accessories, desktop gifts, clothing and caps, folders and bags, mouse mats, paper products, torches, calculators, golf gifts, confectionery, umbrellas, computer accessories, pens, clocks and watches, key rings and key chains, games and puzzles, calendars, and stress toys.

Select an Attractive and Good Quality Item
Everybody wants to receive a free gift. However, they would want to have something durable and appealing. If you give these kinds of gifts to your customers, it will not only create a very positive impact for them but it will also be used regularly.

But if your gifts are cheap with low quality, then it would leave a bad impression on your clients. Even if your gift is attractive, having low quality means that it will not last long. In the same token, a good quality gift will not be attractive if it does not have good graphics and design.

Through Appreciation:
When companies think of gift-giving, the first thing that would enter their minds is to give gifts to their clients. But aside from that, giving gifts can also be a perfect way to appreciate the accomplishments of your in-house employees. You can give promotional products, awards, or other incentives to express your concern and care.

It is also recommended to give gifts to your business partners or associates. It can be a symbol of your appreciation for the investment and trust that they gave to your company.

Through Motivation
In addition to feelings of appreciation, your clients, employees, and business partners will also be indirectly motivated when you give them promotional items. Most likely, they can be inspired to work in a positive direction.

Motivation is psychological in nature. Everybody will be filled with good feelings when you give them a pat on the back. Your employees will work harder, your partners will remain loyal to your company, and your customers will generate repeat orders.

The best drinking water - how to solve the puzzle of the water

I spent most of the first 14 years of my life grew up in Congo, who was then the Belgian Congo. We always boiled our water and filtered. Some of them were collecting rainwater from roofs and some of it was water from wells or rivers. The cooking would kill any disease-carrying organisms. Filtering would be clean like this.

It was not until I came to America that I experienced the "luxury" to drink water directly from the tap.

My lifeExperience shows that there are more opportunities for drinking water. So, what are the different possibilities and the advantages and disadvantages of each are? What is the best option? This may vary depending on where you live in the world, and what your financial limits vary. However, if you live in a developed country can make drinking water safer? These are some questions that we want to solve complex puzzles of drinking water.

What are some "Best DrinkingWater options?

The word "best" can be understood in a relative sense. "Given the geography and the circumstances of my life, what is the best drinking water for me?" Or it can be understood in an absolute sense. What is the best source for drinking water in the world?

This article is to answer the second question, as I'm writing mainly looking for people in developed countries, but will also give you a grid to determine the best option if other limiting factors.

1.Rain-water-water has been recognized in ancient history as the source for sure. In some countries it may still be the safest source of drinking water. However, there are complications in the modern world, where the pollutants in the atmosphere. It can collect pollutants in the methods of rainwater as well. For these reasons, rainwater can not be the best choice.

If you collect rainwater, then boil and then strain, is likely to have a good drinking water quality. ButBoiling and filtering would be to do this for all the water is just rainwater.

2. boiled water is a good way to disinfect drinking water when you cook for 10 minutes. However, it takes time to cook and then cool water. Fuel costs for many of the people who could benefit most inaccessible. Moreover, not boiling away many of the other pollutants that find their way to the water in the developed world.

3. Tap water is a problem of alcoholWater source for many people in developed countries where water is filtered and disinfected before serving up to your tap. The tap water was considered completely safe, but more and more questions are used to clean water due to aging of sanitation and water treatment plants increases. There was also an introduction of new types of pollutants into the water supply in these countries were.

Erik Olson, senior attorney with the Natural ResourcesDefense Council, brings us to the hat with the words: "Most Americans take for granted that their tap water is pure and their water infrastructure is safe should not .."

4. Bottled water is the beverage of choice for many modern amenities. has raised questions about the quality of tap water, the water came in bottles their company campaigns. In l976 the average American drank 2 liters of water a year. In 1996 they were drinking 30 liters of bottled water forYear. The irony is that while the flavor is generally better, the quality can not be better.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) recently published a review of four years of bottled drinking water. They tested more than 1,000 bottles representing 103 different brands. They found that most of the water was high quality, but that some brands were contaminated. They concluded: "There is no guarantee that just because the water from a bottle, is a cleaner and safer waterfrom a tap. "

What is the best water feature?

I would suggest that it is possible to filter the water that "drinking the best water in the world." I say "may" because not all filters are equally good. The world of the filter is a mystery to himself. There are filters that simply enhance the flavor and color, and there are filters that remove virtually all pollutants.

Here are some of the reasons that I will give you the feeling of filtered waterimproved drinking water:

o For filtering, you can use the water that is already processed and your basically safe from the tap and make it even better.

quality filters that are certified or will the water you can be assured of some pollutants has been cleaned. This quality filter will tell you exactly what is removed. Are not left thinking as mineral water, where there is no agreement between the companies.

or distilled water has removed all of the pollutants,Mineral well, with the exception of VOC, which can then be removed by an activated carbon filter. Reverse osmosis filters are similar. They are not thorough enough, but remove the VOCs. There are high quality carbon filter that gives you the high quality water at high speed without affecting the healthy minerals such as distilled water is made or reverse osmosis filters.

no filter will give them the best quality drinking water for a fraction of the cost of bottled water to anothercomfortably.

With the increasing number of pollutants in drinking water sources and the need to reduce costs for our drinking water, this question is to consider all options important. Sorting through the pros and cons to identify water filters as the best option for the purest is only the first part of the puzzle. The second part contains a variety of different types of filters and different types of filters, sorting the source Discoveryworld's best drinking water.

5 things to do with a newborn, when the weather is bad

There are many things that usually a small child when the weather is beautiful out there to do - go for a walk in the park, playing in the yard and so on.

But what about those days when it is pouring rain, or in the middle of a cold spell in winter, or during a heatwave in the summer? What then?

Here are 5 great ideas for things with a young child, if not out.

N. 1 - Visit the public library - and do not read books. Take your child to the library. ManyLibraries in several cities in North America to play "boys" and explore areas. For example, in our city - most of the Hamilton public library locations have an area where your child can play outside until limp. They have created a miniature railway play for a puppet stage for the aspiring actor, puzzles galore. Its free and good way, an active time with your child and spend a.

No. 2 - Visit to a children's museum. I like many things fun and interesting surprisesto see and in a museum for children. And you can be pleasantly surprised to find that in your city or nearby city. Just online and in your favorite search engine like Google or Yahoo kind of children go to the museum.

children's museum in our city has to experience large blocks, musical instruments, play with, a paint shop with skirts (no more chaotic - but one that should be fun), to feel the stones with fossils and see aquariums, coloring stations and amuch more. It can not be free in your city, but it does not cost much. Check it out for fun with your child.

Step 3 - Visit the company of a supply store like Staples or a big box store like Costco and Sam's Club I know you have to think how much fun it can be. Most of our children love to ride a cart. So if it is not so nice outside, I did one of these stores head and put my husband in the car and we can spend up to an hour to walk through the aisles. We stoppick something colorful - like a block of colored sticky notes. We feel, smell and then we put them back. Something unusual, but still funny!

Number 4 - go shopping. The trick here is that this is not the time to buy a long list of food - enough to buy a few things. This is a trip to focus on your child and experience everything in the store. Pop the baby in the shopping cart and watch the green pepper, red pepper, keep a box ofshake Kleenex, a box of macaroni, feel the roughness of a kiwi, and so on.

No. 5 - Visit a restaurant for a snack. One of my favorite things to do in a coffee shop or a McDonald's to visit for a snack. like a muffin - This trip is for each restaurant, has a high chair and selling healthy food to work. We do it once a week - go to one of the other tours listed above, and then go to a Williams Coffee Shop, McDonald's. I order a muffin for the exchange, aGlass of ice water and a coffee for me. I put my boy on a chair, and we like to share the muffins and let him enjoy sipping a glass of water - not sippy cups here - the water slurping down his shirt is part of the fun is.

There are many people usually play music in the background and large businesses looking for a snack to share with each other. There may be better than this - food, fun and good company.

These are the 5 ideas that work for us. Use these asStarting point and create your own adventures for your child - even if it is not so nice outside.

Single Jig - What makes a puzzle game?

What makes a puzzle?
Only means unique, without equal, the only one.
The elements of a puzzle that make it unique are:
The image.
The cut of the model.
The nature of the material.
2D or 3D
Limited edition.

jigsaws hand cut are certainly unique. Usually just a puzzle cutting and safe, like my father and uncle jigsaws their hand-cut, they cut the only copy of the image. These puzzles are unique, no doubt. Meetall definitions of one. The cutter will select the intersection as he / she cuts. When asked to crop the image again the same, it would take a different path.

Mass production can not be unique puzzle down, even if you have a particular image or number of limited edition. The cutting pattern is used in many other paintings and the quantity produced by exclusion from the definition of one.

In the middle of the hand are designed jigsaws cut on a laser. Here is a series of puzzlesdone, but the lines are unique because they are not used for other images.

The puzzle is related to the shape of the workpiece wherever he goes. A small puzzle can be challenging, if cut in this way.

The experience of several cutting creates another puzzlefor the person who put together the puzzle. In the construction of a standard closing 1,000-piece puzzle, the puzzle is very, very difficult at first, because the person must try to hundreds of pieces and if a large number of different pieces, is first to try the right thing. By the end of the puzzle, the final pieces can be easily used as provided for in the image and there are only a few pieces to browse.

If we cut a puzzle painting line, the puzzle is more difficult in the beginning, and even if up to five or six of them, may still be difficult! This is because the image is not going to help, not the color of a piece is the color of the next adjacent piece.

The image of a selected puzzle is extremely important. The image can be unique for wedding photography or someone or a family photo because the image is created by painting the game editor. Otherwise, the image of a photographer orIllustrator and used repeatedly. It has a lot of interest in the region of the puzzle has many colors, and no large areas of color. We recommend that you select neutral images, not particularly male or female. The picture is beautiful because otherwise there is no way back. When jigsaws are generally there is a laziness in the selection of images. Many companies produce the same kind of old-fashioned image, a bad puzzleWith names.

Jigsaws are many different substances in those days did. Hand cutters still use wood as a result of the cuts with a jigsaw pedal. Some companies use MDF, despite claiming that they were the wooden puzzle! 3D puzzles are often made of plastic, such as modeling requires a material that can be deformed at all levels. With the invention of the YAG laser, jigsaws metal are produced. Acrylic works great for the CO2 laser as the cutting edge is very smooth to the cut in this way.

A singleJigsaw puzzle should be something that is not entirely come before. New ideas, tricks and surprises should be included in the section. The spirit to make the puzzle can only make a color board cut puzzle requires a change in the way the person goes to the puzzle. In search of form as a single image, border color and size of the puzzle.

Some might say a very difficult puzzle, is the biggest puzzle of the world or a repeating pattern with a well-cooked asBeans. However, a cutting edge intelligent color puzzle difficult, a little puzzle with some pieces can seem extremely difficult, but exciting and fun to complete.

Unique Jigsaws - What Makes a Jigsaw Puzzle Different?

What makes a jigsaw unique?
Unique means unparalleled, having no equal, the only one.
The elements of a jigsaw that can make it unique are:
The image.
The cut pattern.
The type of material.
2D or 3D
Limited edition.

Hand cut jigsaws are certainly unique. Usually only one jigsaw is cut and certainly when my father and great uncle cut their jigsaws by hand, they cut the only copy of the image. These jigsaws are unique without question. They fulfill all the definitions of unique. The cutter will choose the cut line as he/she cuts. If asked to cut the same picture again, they would take a different path.

The mass produced pressed jigsaw can not be unique even when it has a special image or is limited edition numbers. The cut pattern is used on numerous other images and the quantity produced exclude them from the definition of only one.

In the middle are the hand designed jigsaws cut on a laser. Here, a number of jigsaws can be made but the cut lines are unique because they are not used for any other image.

By hand designing the cut lines, the image is enhanced and the jigsaw created is tricky without being repetitive.

Types of cut patterns used in hand cut jigsaws.

Interlocking - similar to a normal standard jigsaw
non-interlocking - the piece shapes sit next to each other but do not lock into each other. A very old traditional way of cutting. This creates a difficult jigsaw as there is no shape recognition involved in putting the jigsaw together.
Colour line cutting - here the cut lines are placed along colour changes e.g. cutting around a person in a picture. This makes a difficult jigsaw because the jigsaw can not be put together by looking at the colours or the picture. The puzzles is reliant on the shape of the piece to work out where it goes. A small jigsaw can be very challenging when cut in this way.

The different cutting creates a different jigsaw experience for the person putting the jigsaw together. When putting together a standard interlocking jigsaw of 1000 pieces, the jigsaw is very very difficult at the beginning because the person has to search through hundreds of pieces and may have to try large numbers of different pieces before finding the right one. By the end of the jigsaw, the last pieces are very easy to put in because the image can be used and there are only a few pieces to search through.

When doing a colour line cut jigsaw, the puzzle is difficult at the start and even when down to 5 or six pieces, it can still be difficult! This is because the image is no help, the colour of one piece will not show the colour of the next adjacent piece.

The image selected for a jigsaw is extremely important. The image can be unique because it is created from someone's wedding photograph or a family picture or because the image is painted by the jigsaw cutter. Otherwise the image can be from a photographer or illustrator and will be used multiple times. The picture needs to have lots of interest throughout the area of the jigsaw with lots of colours and no big areas of one colour. It is best to select neutral images, not particularly male or female. The picture should be beautiful otherwise there is no point in recreating it. When looking at jigsaws in general, there is a laziness when choosing the image. Many companies churn out the same type of old fashioned pictures that give jigsaws a bad name.

Jigsaws are made of many different substances these days. Hand cutters still use wood as this cuts well with a treadle fret saw. Some companies use MDF despite claiming they are wooden jigsaws! 3D jigsaws are often made of plastic as the modeling process requires a material that can be deformed in all planes. With the invention of Yag lasers, metal jigsaws can be produced. Acrylic works beautifully for CO2 lasers as the cut edge is very smooth when cut in this way.

A unique jigsaw should be something the puzzler has not come across before. New ideas, tricks and surprises should be contained within the cutting. The mind set for doing the jigsaw can be unique, a colour edge cut jigsaw requires a change in how the person goes about doing the jigsaw. Looking for the shape rather than the image is unique to the colour edge cut jigsaw.

Some would claim a very difficult jigsaw is the largest jigsaw in the world or one with a totally repetitive pattern e.g. baked beans. However, a colour edge cut jigsaw is intelligently difficult, a small jigsaw with seemingly few pieces can be exceptionally difficult but challenging and great fun to complete.

Camper Awning - Making Travel More Enjoyable

For people who enjoy travel, taking weekend trips to see
national parks, historical sites, or visit family and friends,
the camper is a great way to go. Today, you can find all types
of campers. Some campers are full capacity, meaning they are
more like a large trailer while other campers are small,
unfolding once you reach your destination to provide sleeping
quarters, a small kitchen, indoor bathroom, and even sitting
area. Although you could spend a fortune for a camper, you will
also discover some excellent bargains for used campers.

As you sit at the campsite, enjoying the beautiful outdoors, the
last thing you want is to be miserable. After all, the whole
purpose of using the camper is to escape the hustle and bustle
of life, finding a peaceful way to escape. For this reason, you
definitely want to choose something with a camper awning or buy
an awning to have installed. The benefits in this case are
tremendous. For example, your camper awning will provide shade
during the hot day or protection during rain so you can still
sit outside without being affected.

The type of camper awning you choose will depend on the size of
the camper and your personal preference. In either case, these
awnings are easy to set up and very affordable. In addition, a
camper awning comes in a wide range of colors and patterns so
you can take an ordinary camper and make it shine. Of course,
when choosing a camper awning, the most important factors
include strength and durability.

Let us say you have a camper awning but it is old and ragged
looking. Every time you travel, you find yourself spending far
too much time trying to fight with getting the awning open and
closed. In this case, you could simply replace and existing
camper awning, doing the work yourself. For this, start by
measuring the length and width of the fabric while you have the
awning in the open position. For the length, measure from the
roller tube all the way to the rail, making sure any hardware or
a valance is excluded. As far as the width, this is measured as
the distance between the centerline of the awning to the
hardware's centerline

We recommend you go with the same make and model of awning,
although you could choose a different design, which will make
replacement much easier. Keeping the camper awning open, look
for the manufacturer's tag, which will have the model number
listed. In this case, you can simply place your order,
providing the manufacturer with the required model and serial
number.

To replace an existing camper awning, you need the roller
assembly and fabric, as well as coordinating hardware.
Sometimes, these pieces are sold as one unit and sometimes
piecemeal. The manufacturer can guide you through this process,
as well as choosing a different color or pattern, if you like.
However, you might ask the manufacturer about any upgrades that
might be available. For example, you might have an older model
camper awning that has now been replaced with new fabric or
technology. A great example would be fabric that is scratch
resistant, mildew resistant, and fade resistant, perhaps
something your old camper awning did not offer.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Puzzles Help Toddler Development

Wooden puzzles encourage many types of physical and emotional development among toddlers, while at the same time providing durable, low-cost toys for toddlers. Non-toxic puzzles with smooth-edged pieces are safe for toddlers, as well as easy for them to pick up and move around.

With today's global economy, there are a slew of wooden puzzles to choose from. Costs are relatively low thanks to slave labor wages paid to oppressed workers in China and other communist economies. Popular brands include Melissa & Doug, Ravensburger, and Parker Brothers.

Wooden puzzles can help toddlers develop their physical motor skills and their hand-eye coordination. Because a puzzle requires the child to manipulate several relatively small objects, this will develop their physical skills. They will learn to visually match the puzzle piece with its corresponding space on the puzzle board, and then will learn to physically manipulate and fit the piece into that space. They will also have to match colors and shapes on the board to colors and shapes on their puzzle pieces, which will engage multiple areas of the child's brain.

Puzzles can improve a toddler's cognitive skills, in particular their problem-solving and reasoning skills. Each puzzle piece fits in a precise location, and the child may have to rotate the puzzle piece or flip it over. A toddler may become frustrated at first as they struggle to make the piece fit. However, with continued puzzle play, the toddler's problem-solving skills will improve with repeated successes at solving their problem (making the puzzle piece fit).

Problem-solving requires persistence and steadfastness to stay with the task until it is solved. It requires breaking the problem down into smaller steps, then solving each step one at a time, while maintaining a focus on completing the overall objective. Each of these problem-solving skills is required by puzzles. As children grow and develop better skills, puzzles can grow increasingly more challenging in order to continue promoting skill development at higher levels with increasing degrees of difficulty. Puzzles can even teach the child patience, as a puzzle piece that does not fit one way will ultimately fit somewhere if they keep trying.

Toddlers will also develop their spatial skills and abstract thoughts by playing with wooden puzzles. As they rotate or flip a puzzle piece to make it fit in the puzzle, they will be forced to think in three dimensions. They will have to think outside their concrete thoughts (what they can see right now) and consider abstract thoughts (whether the puzzle piece will fit if they rotate it).

Puzzles may also encourage children to think ahead about the results of their actions. They will have to consider the effect of inserting a particular puzzle piece into a particular place on the puzzle board, on the placement of the next puzzle piece.

Durable wooden puzzles from brands like Melissa & Doug and others can help foster a love of puzzles in a child that will grow along with the child, evolving from wooden puzzles to jigsaw puzzles, Rubik's cubes, and crossword puzzles. These advanced puzzles offer similar benefits as wooden puzzles, from cognitive and physical development to learning abstract thought.

Stress Less Family Vacations - A Guide to Easier Family Travel

Family vacations and stress free don't always go hand in hand. Every parent deserves to have a vacation they can actually enjoy. If you dread your family vacation because it does nothing but cause more stress for you, take heart. The following tips will help you enjoy your vacation with kids in tow.

Plan Ahead

Planning is the most important part of having a stress-less family vacation. If you take steps before you leave to plan out what you will need to really enjoy the trip, you'll find that you will be able to relax a whole lot more.

One of the most important parts of planning is involving your kids. If your kids are old enough, involve them directly in planning the trip. Not all of their ideas will be practical, but do your best to ask questions and find out what they want to do.

One of the biggest causes of stress on a vacation is the kids complaining about the activities. When they have a hand in deciding what will be going on, they will be less likely to complain. If complaining does pop up during the trip, you can gently remind them that they had a hand in planning the trip.

When you are planning, be sure to avoid packing too much into one day. Although you may have a limited amount of time for your vacation, you want to be sure that you give yourself and your family some breathing room. Visiting five different locations in one day is a sure fire recipe for frazzled nerves and fighting. Before you arrive at your destination, list your top picks for sightseeing and then save the rest for the next trip.

Travel Light

This may not seem possible with kids and especially younger kids, but you'll find that you will all enjoy the trip more if you don't have to lug around a bunch of luggage. Have your children select one to three special toys for the journey and just say no to the rest. Figure out what you can buy when you get there (shampoo, an extra shirt) and what must absolutely come with you (prescription medications). You may even be able to leave the stroller and other baby gear at home if your hotel provides rentals.

Bring a "Waiting" Bag

If you are sightseeing or going to an amusement park while you are vacationing, you will spend some time waiting. Even the most well-mannered kids can get testy while they are waiting.

Solve this problem by creating a bag of special goodies that you children can use while they are waiting. Include a deck of cards, some small puzzles, a few word searches, some snacks, electronic travel games and coloring books. Whatever you feel is necessary to keep your kids distracted, throw it in the bag. Hold onto the bag and only bring it out when your kids absolutely need it. This way waiting becomes something special!

With these tips, you'll reduce your stress and be able to have an enjoyable family vacation.

3D Wood Puzzles - Fun Learning Development for Toddlers

There is a common consensus among educational experts that children today watch too much television and/or play too many computer games. Giving children puzzles to occupy their time and talking with them about their animal or other object will engage their brain to integrate the different senses such as visual, hearing, and touch for a longer attention span. Increased sensory integration and co-ordination are the result.

Children, when introduced to puzzles, will enjoy marvelous learning experiences as well as the opportunity of playing creatively when offered brightly painted chunky wood puzzles. Puzzles including animals, fish, birds and sea life are a perfect learning tool for your Sunday school classrooms and for parents who want a toy that will quickly become a child's favorite.

Enhanced storytelling using puzzles as "props" creates easy social interaction with your children. Asking open-ended questions about the animal or object will encourage children to use their imaginations and new exciting "dramas" will explode. Stimulating your children's' imaginations will make teaching fun and exciting for both the teacher and the child.

When storytelling is finished and the children have time to play with the puzzles by themselves, opportunities for improved hand eye coordination abound. Fine motor skills and increased attention span are another great benefit of playing with puzzles.

Also consider incorporating ABC and number puzzles in your child's learning development. Visually seeing the letters and numbers and having to put the puzzle back in the numeric or alphabetic order will enable your child to learn quicker. Because of all the bright colors and different sized pieces they will have fun and stay with their "task" for a longer period of time.

Keep the puzzles you give your child age-appropriate. You do not want your child to become discouraged with something that is too difficult for him. Watch your child play and see how he reacts to the puzzle. If you see him getting too frustrated and giving up you can try and work with him for awhile or maybe give him an easier puzzle to begin with.

Remember to select puzzles made of quality, sustainable hardwoods and other eco friendly materials. You will also want to purchase products that pass the highest standards set up by the U.S for child-safe paints.

Your child deserves the best toys that provide enduring quality, thoughtfully produced and thoroughly fun!

Business Opportunity Customers Response to Advertising

Business opportunity customers are the single most important piece of the puzzle when you are looking at business success. There has never been a successful business without customers. Someone has to buy your product or service to generate income. By definition a customer is someone who purchases, or intends to purchase, a product or service for sale. They do expect to buy quality products that have equal or greater value than the price they pay. Customers love sales and saving money but they have absolutely no expectation of being paid to make a purchase. Customers and lots of them are what makes a successful business opportunity.

Customers are attracted to a business opportunity product or service that is for sale in a number of ways which all involve some form of contact with people. Advertising in newspapers, radio, television and the Internet is geared toward attracting customers. Most business owners will endeavor to promote their business in as many types of media as possible. The bigger the audience the more likely you will get people who are interested in your product or service.

Advertising should appeal to one of the five senses. Visual and auditory stimuli are the most common and often the most effective. Most media advertisers will gear their ads to appeal to a combination of two or more sensory triggers. Many of our metaphors are entwined with the senses. Seeing is believing, and pictures are worth a thousand words, refer to the visual stimuli that entice the imagination and reinforce credibility. Creating a picture of your product or service will stay with a person longer than just hearing about it or reading about it. Powerful advertising that incorporates seeing, hearing, and reading about your product will increase retention of the information that you present. The goal of all advertising and promotion is to make a lasting impression on the people who see and hear the advertisement with the hope that they will purchase your product instead of a competitor product.

Tactile advertisement is very powerful. Sample products appeal to all the senses. You can see, feel, smell, read and sometimes even taste the product. Sampling lets you know right away if this is a product that you would want to use again. It also lets you know if it is a product you don't want or need. Not every person who comes into contact with your product for sale will want it, or even need it, but they may know someone who does and tell them about it. Samples are never wasted advertising.

Consider using different forms of advertising and promotional materials to highlight your product in the best possible way. Featuring your product or services to as many of the senses as you can will help to you to acquire business opportunity customers.

Perhaps there's something about leaving the mainland and settling on a 12 mile stretch land that is just too cool to actually attach itself to everyone else. You'll technically still be in South Carolina, but you'll be in a whole new state of mind.

Just to get it out of the way, Hilton Head is known for great golf. It's not fair to assume that everyone will be interested in this, but it's worth noting that fantastic golf courses only sprout up in the most beautiful settings, so where there are greens, there will be other things. For the tee timers, remember the names Long Cove Club and Harbour Town and you'll know where to sneak off to as soon as you get the chance.

You'll want to spend plenty of time enjoying the outdoors here on Hilton Head. For a resort area, it's pretty blessed with natural features that would impress explorers of all kinds. In the wildlife department, you'll have the chance to glimpse otter, mink, deer, and if you're quiet and lucky enough, bobcats and the endangered loggerhead sea turtle. Dolphins like to play along the shoreline, and tours regularly take curious visitors out to see for themselves these playful swimmers. For such a small place, Hilton Head has its fair share of animal activity, so keep your eyes peeled wherever you go.

Kayaking along the coast or renting a bike might give you a better chance to see such cool sights, and will encourage you to accomplish the ultimate feat of burning calories without even realizing it. Hilton Head has places to work out and work up a sweat, on tennis courts and in gyms, for example, but feel free to ditch the usual exercise routine and stay healthy while having a good time. To really do something new, try your hand at an aquatrike, which will allow you the grin-inducing experience of pedaling across the waves.

There are more than 250 restaurants within the perimeter of Hilton Head, so don't worry about going hungry. Satisfy your fresh seafood deficiency by partaking of lobster, shrimp, and crab every night if you wish, and finish it off with a delicious dessert or a well-deserved nightcap as you watch the sun go down. All in all, you'll never run out of choices in this department.

If you're bringing the kids along for this one, you'll probably become acquainted with the miniature golf courses, bowling alleys, children's museum, and less structured activities like sandcastle building and hunting for seashells. The b-word (bored) won't dare to be spoken during this trip, and you should be prepared to put every one to bed each night knowing that the day was well spent.

Speaking of going to bed, make sure to place the correct piece into this portion of the vacation jigsaw puzzle, as it's one of the most important ones. There are dozens of vacation rentals on the island, and as we've established that there's a lot to do within a fairly small area, it'll work out well to unpack your bags in a spacious condo or bungalow that will afford some privacy without isolating you from anything. No matter which portion of the island you choose to stay, you'll have golf courses, antique shops, beaches, or whatever it is you seek right at your fingertips.

It looks like everything has the potential to come together pretty well on Hilton Head Island. The earlier you start to plan, the better chance you'll have of things really working out in the best possible way, so check out the selection of Hilton Head Vacation Rentals and get ready to complete the puzzle that's been teasing your brain for so long.

Unplugged Kids Travel Games And Activities

Looking for some unplugged time to spend with your family? Travel time is the perfect time to reconnect with family by playing fun, challenging games and activities - no batteries or power cord required.

Car Games: Enhance that competitive spirit by playing classic road games that depend on luck and powers of observation like billboard bingo or the license plate game. Challenge a parent's fading memory skills by alternating singing songs starting with each letter of the alphabet and see who gets stumped first. Continue with a rousing rendition of "Name That Tune" style guessing games using lines from familiar family songs, famous quotes or even nursery rhymes. Keep kids engaged in the games by awarding small prizes to the winners.

Memory Games for Anytime Fun: Our family has never enjoyed the classic I Spy game so we changed the rules and combined it with twenty questions. The game starts the same (I spy with my little eye...) but the guesser is allowed to ask a series of yes or no questions until the object is discovered or the guesser gives up. Repeating games such as grandmothers purse (In grandmother's purse there are many things) are also quiet fun while traveling.

Logic Games & Puzzles: Spend travel time solving puzzles or playing logic games as a family. Many game books feature puzzles requiring a variety of skills that can be appropriate for almost any age. Work together as a family or in teams to see if you can finish an entire book or magazine. Another old standby is hangman. It can be played almost anywhere and requires something to write with and a scrap of paper.

Math Games: Games such as Yahtzee or Math Dice are fun for the entire family and also work on basic adding and logic skills - learning and fun all in one! Twenty-one is another simple game that requires only a deck of cards. For older kids, find a magic with math book that is filled with number tricks and games.

Reconnect with your family on your next vacation by spending time together unplugged. Nothing brings a family together like fun, challenging games and puzzles.

Word Search

Word searches (also known known as "word search puzzles") are puzzle games played with pen and paper where the player's task is to find words hidden within an array of letters. The challenge comes from three factors:

1. Words can be hidden in the array in various directions - vertically (up or down), horizontally (left to right, or right to left), or diagonally (any of the four diagonal directions).

2. Not all the letters in the puzzle may actually be part of one of the words. Additionally, since words can intersect and overlaps, some letters may be used by more than one word. This, together with the first factor, can make it extremely difficult to spot the words in the puzzle.

3. In the majority word search puzzles, the player is given a list of words to look for, however this is not essential. The puzzle is obviously a lot of tougher if no such list is supplied - although usually puzzle designers do give players at least a hint as to word sort of words to look (e.g. words relating travel, golf, or whatever theme the designer had in mind).

While many people enjoy solving word search puzzles as a recreational activity, it also should be remembered that these puzzles can also have educational value, especially in teaching spelling: students need to pay attention to exact spelling (as well as learning to work methodically) in order to solve a word search.

Creating a word search puzzle by hand is not a job for the feinted hearted. It's a time consuming trial and error process, and quite frankly not nearly as much fun as solving these puzzles! An easier and quicker way to create these puzzles is to use your computer - just enter a list of words, and with the help of the right software, a puzzle appears at the click of a button. You can also easily experiment with varying the size, shape and word directions used in your puzzles.

Pharaoh's Secret Game Review

It's just amazing how Egypt's many mysteries can still keep secrets up to this day when many documentaries and reports had already been made about them. Pharaoh's Secret is nothing different, even being a game that explores a fictional story about the secret life of noble Egyptian rulers; however, how it fares as a casual game is entirely a different matter.

The game is a match-3 installment that revolves around the adventures of an archaeology student named Daniel and his professor during their investigations of the great history of Egypt. I must admit, the story is a bit confusing since at first, you're off decoding a strange papyrus discovered from another professor's archives, then later on, you're trying to find the lost relic of the pharaoh Didumes. What's good about the game though is that you can review the story afterwards, I reckon just so to clear things up a bit on your actual mission, but if you're like me, well, I'll just go on and play the game in any case.

Anyway, as a match-3 game, Pharaoh's Secret follows the same gameplay as its predecessor, Da Vinci's Secret. The gameplay is unique wherein you need to group 3 or more balls in order to eliminate them from the board. A ball can be moved in any location within the board as long as there's a path for it to travel on the intended area. If a ball is moved and no matches were made, additional balls will appear on the board. Do this for several times, and the board will fill up, forcing you to retry a level.

There are several objectives for each of the levels, and you'll encounter a range of really difficult ones as you go along the puzzles. The most used objective is to put the key towards the same colored keyhole by clearing all balls blocking its path. Other objectives include assembling puzzle pieces by joining them together, and clearing out a mesh grating by matching the seal to its lock. Sometimes there are multiple objectives on a single level too, but don't worry too much, because even though the levels are timed (for a top score placement), you can always take as much time as you want in analyzing the puzzles.

Fastest way to a puzzle together - along tips and tricks for creating a puzzle

Have you always wanted to put together the puzzle, but when you get frustrated? My boyfriend and I put together the puzzle for the last 2 years. Therefore, I intend to use this article to give some tips and tricks for putting together the puzzle more quickly and efficiently.

o Do not be impatient. Grab a cup of coffee or a snack to eat while you work on your puzzle. You probably remember pieces much faster if yourelaxed.
o Find a good area to build the great puzzle. I always puzzle to build up a poster so I can frame after I'm done. I can move even if I do the puzzle room to another to bring it to you. Make sure, plenty of space, is distributed throughout all the pieces are made. This brings me to my next point ...
O Turn the pieces so you can see the front. Not good, even when you can not see anyUnique.
o Start with the border. Create your first stop.
or via separate pieces in similar colors. I found this trick dramatically help my puzzle time. If you separate pieces of stakes in its color then the chances of these colors are all well together. If you want a place to store your puzzle, set the color in separate piles Ziploc bags. This allows you to save time when you start working again.
Keep your image or nearby. Reference isconstantly.
Or finally, if you can not hear, can get up to go to another piece and something else. As I said, with the first tip, you probably will not find when the pieces are the pieces and tired eyes to look at little puzzle.

Putting together the puzzle is nice. I encourage you to frame the puzzle when you're done. Start working on a collection of framed puzzle, and the family can show your friends.

The Best Travel Toys for Toddlers

Toddlers are notoriously hard to entertain on a long trip. They do not have the attention span for movies, cannot read, find it impossible to sit still, and, despite what the toy companies want you to believe, there is no fail safe travel toy that will entertain a toddler (or any child) for hours on end. So what is a parent to do? The key to entertaining toddlers on a long journey is distraction.

Instead of trying to find that perfect toy, pack a variety of simple toys that, combined with imagination, can be used in a variety of ways. Think quality - you want enough toys to be able to swap out often.

Before the trip, create a toddler activity kit containing a variety of age appropriate toys. Things like stacking cups, links, cars, puzzles and chunky crayons are all good choices. Finger puppets and small animals are fun for playing let's pretend and engaging your child for slightly longer periods of time. Think outside the box as you are selecting toys. For example, squeeze toys are always fun in the bathtub but they are perfect for creating a distraction. Puff some air in a toddler's hair or on their arm and you immediately get their attention. In desperate times you can even fill one with water and watch the giggles start.

Use your toy assortment wisely. Pull out the first thing and if it doesn't capture their attention immediately, put it away and try something else. Use toys in unusual or unexpected ways. For example, a large stacking cup can become a hat. Lastly, do not wait until they get bored with a toy to introduce a new one. Gradually transition between toys - it makes both items last a little bit longer.

The best travel toy for toddlers is a well stocked activity bag that allows you to continually distract them. With a little imagination, you might even enjoy the trip.

Are Blow Dryers Good Or Bad For Your Hair?

Some of us like the little foldaway travel-style blow dryers and some of us prefer to pull out the monstrous, tangle-ridden bump and fall to the ground blow dryers. Sound familiar? Well its time to inspect what you have been using and or hiding away in your vanity. Anything that plugs in can start a fire. You should inspect the cord periodically and never wrap it up like a puzzle for storage next to your sink.

Heat is a great enemy to your hair. That means hair dryers must be used with great care and on a moderate setting. A blow dryer on its hottest setting will reach temperatures above that at which water boils. This can be disastrous on the hair.

The best choices for Blow Dryers and their care:

It seems the ION hair dryer includes all the bells the whistles. It offers technologies separately or together, with ionic only, ionic and ceramic, and ceramic only settings. A full complement of features includes several heat settings and speeds, a quiet motor, concentrator attachment and a hinged filer for cleaning. Your best bet for one of these would be Tourmaline, BaByliss, and Revlon.

There is a huge price difference between professional and home hair dryers. You get a longer duty cycle for the extra money. Professional hair dryers are supposed to last for 1200 hours where as the more inexpensive blow dryer lasts about 500 hours. Professional hair dyers are also generally larger and generate more airflow than consumer blow dryers.

For an inexpensive, professional hair dryer, we found the Tourmaline has rave reviews. This dryer is different from other blow dryers because of its crushed tourmaline jewels, which generate more negative ions than any other mineral. The jewels are injected into all the dryer compartments. It the only dryer with a true ceramic heater coil. It weighs only 13 ounces and packs a whopping 1800-watt motor.

If you're looking for a travel dryer with the same power as a full sized model, the CONAIR ION Shine Folding Handle Blow Dryer has 1875 watts with ionic technology to reduce frizz and offers two heat/speed settings. It has a concentrator, removable filer and a cool-shot button with a quiet tone motor.

The most important feature of a blow dryer, airflow, depends on its motor. However, unless you buy your dryer from a beauty-supply store that lets you test it first, there's really no way to determine motor quality before you plunk down your money. Powerful motors reduce drying time, but some also sound an awful lot like jets taking off in your bathroom. Blow-dryer manufacturers are addressing this by developing quieter motors. For example, several of the CONAIR Ion Shine hair dryers feature a Quiet-Tone motor.

I say the best blow dryers should have the following features:

Power of 1200 - 1500 watts for fine/damaged hair, and 1875 watts for thick, wavy hair.

Two or three heat settings.

Automatic shut-off if the dryer overheats.

A cool setting for a cool-shot button to set your hairstyle.

A removable air intake grill/lint filter.

I wish you happy heating, curling, waving, and styling. And remember to check out your existing hair dryer and keep it safe, clean and stored properly.
