List of Recreational Activities - Things to Do Outside of Your House

People Today have really busy lifestyles. When you actually do get a day off you should make it count. In this text I will compose for you a suggested list of recreational activities. Some you may like, some you may not like. I hope that it will help narrow down fun thing for you to enjoy.

A nice quiet day of fishing is always nice durring the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Some people do enjoy ice fishing in the Winter as well. That is far too cold for me though. Another enjoyable afternoon can be spent hiking. You may not even have to travel far to do this. Usually you can check on line for near by trails. If you find yourself enjoying the trails you may also want to try trail riding. It is a great workout for you legs. Believe it or not I really enjoy mall walking when the weather is not so nice.

My list of recreational activities is not all physical. I believe in recreation for the mind and soul as well. I enjoy going to rhythmic breathing classes. These classes help you to slow down in these fast paced days that we live in. There is soft music for meditation, and aromatherepy candles. I feel so relaxed after class. Shopping is always a great activity. I feel mentally uplifted when I get together with my friends and go to the mall hit the sales. After we go to the local coffee shop and enjoy a great cup of java as well as the company and chit-chat.

There is a great coffee spot right in the bookstore near my house. I love to unwind in a good book. Reading is definately on my list as well. There is something magical about books. I always find myself lost in the story. I can picture the charecters, scenery, if the author is good I sometimes feel like I'm there watching the story unfold.

I would have to say that my faveorite thing on my list of recreational activities would have to say a good old day at the movie theater. I try to go durring the matine hours. This will save you some money. Usually matine movie tickets are at least $3.00 cheaper. When I have a tighter budget I close all the blinds in my house, pop pocorn, put a movie in and walla a movie theater in my home. Alot of times you can buy the previously viewed dvds from Blockbuster 3 for $20.00. This way you can get something you haven't seen.

Well, I hope you found something on this list that looks recreational to you. I also find myself enjoying the many games on th internet. There are many websites where you can play games for free. Pogo.com is a great example of this. My faveorite are the on line puzzle websites like puzzlebee. I could spen hours just playing around.

Well I hope you enjoy your next day off with a great activity. Just try something new everytime. This way you can start a list recreational activities of your own some day.

Squash Racket Reviews

I've played the game of squash on and off for about 18 years now. I've probably played with dozens of different rackets. Different materials, different composites, different grips, different strings, and different shaped rackets. So, I do have a few opinions when it comes to rackets.

For the majority of players any of the top brands like Dunlop, Black Knight, Wilson, Technifibre, Head, Prince, Manta, or Karakal all manufacturer an appropriate racket. I wouldn't get too hung up on brand name. Unless, your one of the top 200 players on the PSA tour, there's really no need to spend more than a hundred dollars for a racket.

What matters the most, is that a racket feels good to you. Weight and stiffness, are probably the two most important features here. Also, bear in mind, that a lighter racket, with good stiffness, and reduced vibrations is less likely to cause repetitive strain type injuries over the years.

The other thing to keep in mind, is that once you have a racket you like, be sure to own at least 2 of them. That way, when one breaks, or needs to be restrung, your not stuck playing with a completely different racket. I actually have 4 rackets in my squash bag at the moment, with one more on order. Only on of those current 4 do I consider playable at the moment. It's a Wilson N145, the same as the one I have on order.

The oldest of those rackets (a Slazenger) has a hairline stress crack, and will probably go any time. It's like 10 years old, so it doesn't really owe me anything. The remaining two need restringing, and I'm not sure they're worth being restrung. One is an Unsquashable, that I won at a tournament, and have never been all that attached to. The last one is a Black Knight Viper, that is pretty old as well, and will probably break as soon as I get it restrung. So, I haven't.

Inventing the Best Puzzle Game Ever

Most people who love games have a favourite puzzle game and their attachment to it is usually of the highest levels of devotion. Mention the words 'Braid' or 'Portal' and many people glaze over with a warm affinity radiating from their person. People connect with a puzzle game in a unique way and it is a genre that could arguably be the most time-absorbing of all.

One of the most successful aspects of Portal, for me, was the occasional moment where you felt like you were botching your way through with an unscripted action that you just found worked for you. Then when you saw someone else play through the same stage you thought 'aah, why didn't I think of that' still unsure wether that was what the designers intended.

I find it boggling how people can come up with so many ingenious puzzles. I would like to see a game invent a situation with multiple unscripted solutions; much like Portal's accidental answers but with even greater variety. A puzzle where players with different mindsets would naturally gravitate towards different tactics. So, for example, one person who fancied themselves as a bit skillful might simply throw an object at the target, whereas somebody with a more 'Tetris' inclination might pile items up until it was possible to climb and reach it, or somebody else might fashion items into a device long enough to reach the object from the ground. This is perhaps a simplistic and not wholly brilliant example (that's why I'm in awe of people who devise these clever puzzles) but you get the point I'm making.

I think puzzles can be complicated if they are fashioned around familiar concepts and items. Gravity, light, shadow, liquids, gas, fire, reflections etc. are all things people recognise and understand. They have differing natural properties and they interact differently with other elements. Puzzles could involve factors that people have an understanding of outside of the laws set by a video game. When a 3 foot wall prevents you from progressing, suddenly you feel like your imagination isn't in control but instead you are simply being asked to understand the person setting the problem or the confines of the game. If you are presented with a problem in which you find yourself thinking 'this might work depending on how sturdy this item is, or maybe I could balance this long enough to do this' and make educated judgments on what you think should be possible before trial-ing it out, it would create a huge sense of achievement to feel like you have overcome something by finding your own solution rather than cracking what someone else intended.

The task of creating a problem without linear solutions would seem to be incredibly difficult. Getting the balance right between a pointlessly simple answer and a completely obtuse one, would be nigh-on impossible to judge if you are hoping players will find their own method of achievement. I guess there has to be some kind of limitation to maintain a healthy balance of difficulty with a puzzle game. It's the unscripted, accidental discoveries that I find particularly enjoyable in games. I like to see goals scored in a footy simulation that involve a deflected shot running through someone's feet before a defender clears the ball only to see it re-bound off the back of another players head and into his own net. Glorious! You can't program instances like that.
Or in some on-line games when teams of players formulate their own plan and cunningly capture their opponent by guiding them into a manufactured blockade. That kind of freedom and creativity adds an enormous sense of power to a playing experience. If a puzzle game could somehow encapsulate these different aspects, it would surely be something to behold. Unfortunately my feeble brain doesn't have enough muscle to flex in this direction, so I'll have to wait and see where the genre is taken next. Portal 2 should hopefully be a good start.
